National Assembly Facade to Receive Modern Lighting, Says Tigran Galstyan

The facade of the National Assembly of Armenia is set to receive modern lighting. Tigran Galstyan, the head of the National Assembly staff, announced this on his Facebook page.

Specifically, he wrote: “Regardless of the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the National Assembly staff has planned and is systematically implementing the following programs in 2020 mainly using its savings:

  1. The low-quality and severely worn heating system of the National Assembly building is being replaced, which has been a consistent cause of numerous malfunctions. The phase of conducting a competition has been completed, and the work will soon begin.
  2. The five-story parking structure and vehicle service building, which has been subject to corrosion and resembles an emergency building due to damaged engineering nodes, is being completely renovated. This parking facility will help decongest Demirchyan Street, where heavy traffic often leads to congestion. The renovation is expected to be completed in 10 days, with plans to also construct a new open parking lot.
  3. Modern working conditions are being created for the Expertise and Analytical Department. This environment, intended to serve as an analytical center, will be equipped with the latest technical and software tools. Work has started and is expected to be completed in 2 months.
  4. An electronic library will be established, providing access to international and local digitized literature. Technical means have already been secured, and negotiations are underway to obtain access permissions to various electronic library materials.
  5. The facade of the first building of the National Assembly of Armenia will receive modern lighting. The design of the exterior has already been determined and a preliminary budget has been prepared. A public competition for the implementation of the works will be announced soon.

We have several other programs planned for 2020, which we aim to implement as soon as financial resources obtained through new savings become available. I would also like to mention that the National Assembly has already saved and transferred 503 million AMD to the state budget from its budget (in addition to the aforementioned projects).”
