Drivers to Halt Vehicles in Case of Non-Compliant Passengers, Says Hayk Marutyan
As of today, public transportation in Yerevan resumes operations under special regulations. This was announced by Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan on his Facebook page.
He specifically noted, “You are aware that, by the decision of the Armenian Prime Minister, special rules will apply for the operation of transportation to reduce the risk of infection:
- Passengers are MANDATORILY required to wear masks on transportation vehicles.
- Transporting standing passengers on surface transport is also prohibited, with the exception of trolleybuses.
In case of violations, police may stop public transport, disembark passengers, and move the vehicle to a penalty area, where the driver and/or the transportation company will face fines.
Drivers are instructed to halt vehicle operations in the presence of non-compliant passengers until the violation is corrected.
I am confident that Yerevanians will demonstrate a high level of social responsibility, strictly adhering to the established rules to avoid additional complications in urban traffic.
Please be understanding of temporary inconveniences with the awareness that these measures are taken to ensure public health and safety. Stay safe!”
