Who is that person whose whims could resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh issue? - Armenian Prime Minister

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during an online press conference today that the participation of elected representatives from Artsakh in the negotiation process is very important and essential. The Prime Minister emphasized that without their involvement, there cannot be any solution to the issue.

“We cannot make decisions on behalf of the elected representatives of Artsakh,” said Pashinyan.

Addressing the issue of deploying international peacekeeping forces in the conflict zone, Pashinyan noted that this idea has always been present in both negotiation documents and public statements. “There can be all sorts of ideas, but if there is a solution to which I am not inclined to say ‘yes’, but rather to think that perhaps I shouldn’t say ‘no’, I will take that option and discuss it first with the Security Councils of Armenia and Artsakh, with the parliaments, and with the people,” said Pashinyan.

He emphasized that he linked this condition to the people as early as 2018. “Why can the issue of Artsakh be resolved at the whim of one person? Who is that person? I want to know,” said the Prime Minister. Pashinyan stressed that all kinds of proposals can be made at the negotiation table, from the most acceptable to the most unacceptable. According to him, Armenian representatives cannot close their ears to avoid hearing or run away from the table. Ultimately, he believes that the final solution will be found through negotiation and dialogue.
