Restrictions Imposed in Areni Until May 26: New Decision by the Governor

According to the new decision by the Governor, restrictions will be imposed in the Areni community of Vayots Dzor province.

“Guided by point 7 of the annex to the decision No. 298-N of the Government of the Republic of Armenia on declaring a state of emergency in the Republic of Armenia on March 16, 2020:

1. In the Areni community of Vayots Dzor province of the Republic of Armenia, the following restrictions will be applied:
• Establish a special regime for entering and exiting the administrative boundaries of the community, prohibiting the entry and exit of individuals and vehicles, except for the supply of essential goods, necessities, food, medications, fuel supply, and for agricultural and gardening work, allowing movement of individuals motivated by work, along the M2 interstate highway and the road leading to Khachik.
• Exception to the entry restrictions established by sub-point “a” of this point will be allowed until May 17, 2020, at 08:00, for those individuals who have permanent residency rights or are actually residing in the Areni community.
• Entry and exit for those individuals conducting agricultural and gardening work shall be permitted only when accompanied by a template approved by the representative of the Vayots Dzor governor's office as per this decision’s annex.
• To ensure the monitoring of vehicular traffic on the M2 interstate highway and the road leading to Khachik, the police of the Republic of Armenia will establish checkpoints within the administrative boundaries of Areni and exclude stopping of vehicles within these limits.
• In order to ensure the implementation of this special regime, the National Security Service and the police of the Republic of Armenia will establish checkpoints and inspection points in designated areas to conduct inspections of individuals and vehicles allowed to enter the administrative area of Areni.
2. Establish temporary restrictions on the types of economic activities in Areni according to Table 1.
3. The Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Torosyan, the head of the National Security Service Edward Martirosyan, the head of the police Arman Sargsyan, and the Governor of Vayots Dzor Ararat Grigoryan are instructed to ensure the implementation of this decision.
4. This decision comes into force on May 16, 2020, at 22:00, and is valid until May 26, 2020, at 23:59.
