Police Monitoring: Is There a Revenge Plot Against Marukyan's Brother?

According to the newspaper Hraparak, police have been stationed at the entrance of an apartment building in Yerevan where Edgar Marukyan, the less well-known brother of the leader of the LHK, Edmon Marukyan, resides for several days now. There are reports that the police have obtained operational information suggesting that revenge is being planned against Marukyan's brother following his remarks after a recent well-publicized altercation in the National Assembly.

It is worth noting that after facing threats from Sasun Mikayelyan, who stated, 'I will cut your throat' and 'I will kick your head,' the MP's brother had written: 'Anyone who says such things to Edmon will regret it at a minimum (...)', although he later deleted that offensive expression. However, a few days later, Sasun Mikayelyan announced from the NA podium that Edgar Marukyan had insulted his parent and must answer for it. He advised Edgar to apologize and hinted that his organization might want to take revenge on him.

We requested a comment from the police regarding this monitoring, but they neither confirmed nor denied the information.

It is also important to mention that Edgar Marukyan has filed a report with the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Armenia regarding the 'direct and indirect threats' made by Sasun Mikayelyan.
