Video: Georgian Border Guards Give Deadline to Armenian Citizens Stuck in Lars
Georgian border guards are forcing Armenian citizens stranded in the neutral zone at the Lars checkpoint to leave the area. In a conversation with ArmDaily.am, a woman who remains at the Russian-Georgian border reported that the border guards have demanded an immediate departure from the territory.
“We have been given time until 8 AM tomorrow. They say your embassy doesn’t care about you and cannot help you. Only Nikol can get us out of here; no one else can help,” she stated to the media.
She also mentioned that they attempted to contact the Armenian embassy in Georgia, but were informed that they could not assist them in any way. The woman expressed that they are compelled to leave the area but have no idea where they should return to.
It is worth noting that last night, Georgian border guards attacked Armenian citizens who were still at the border. The individuals tried to alert the police and call for an ambulance, but neither responded.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also issued a statement regarding the issue, urging Armenian citizens to return to their previous places of residence.
