Vahagn Chakhalyan Arrested
The president of the "Will to Protect Armenian Values" NGO, Vahagn Chakhalyan, has been arrested. Chakhalyan wrote about this on his Facebook page: "Dear compatriots, I have been arrested again and am being taken to the police station in Erebuni. I must say that all of this is no longer funny... The authorities of the Republic of Armenia are trying to completely discredit law enforcement agencies in this way," he stated.
Earlier, we reported that on May 13, several members of the initiative, including Vahagn Chakhalyan, Artur Aramyan, Aram Khanzadyan, and Ashot Abrahamyan, were taken into custody by the Erebuni police department.
It is worth mentioning that Nikolay Baghdasaryan, a member of the National Assembly from the "My Step" bloc, had submitted a report to the police. It became clear that Artur Aleksanyan, a member of the "Will to Protect Armenian Values" initiative, had conducted a protest against the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. During the protest, he encountered MP Nikolay Baghdasaryan and demanded that he vote against the ratification of the convention. Notably, Baghdasaryan is among those members of parliament who supported the convention.
