Ministry Working on Special Morgue for Coronavirus Victims, Deputy Minister
The Ministry of Health of Armenia is working towards having a special morgue for individuals who have died from coronavirus.
As reported by Armenpress, Deputy Minister of Health Lena Nanushyan mentioned this during a press conference, responding to a question regarding when autopsies for coronavirus victims will be conducted in Armenia.
“In cases of death from any infectious disease, special conditions for autopsy are necessary, which allow for the procedure to take place safely. Currently, the Ministry of Health is working to establish a morgue equipped with such conditions and facilities,” said Nanushyan.
According to the Deputy Minister, only under those circumstances can they confidently say that autopsies can be conducted in safe conditions.
As of May 14 at 11:00 AM, a total of 3,860 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Armenia, with 1,572 patients having recovered. Currently, 2,218 patients are receiving treatment for the virus. In total, 36,016 tests have been conducted, and there have been 49 recorded deaths from the disease.
