It Is Revealed Why Sambat Gogyans Resigned
The president of the Commission on Education, Science, and Culture, Sambat Gogyans, has addressed the reasons behind his resignation in a post on Facebook.
“My decision to resign from the position of president of the Commission has three layers:
1. My views on education and science reforms did not align with the ministry's strategy, and over time, these contradictions deepened. Despite these differences, I worked with a clear conscience. To reform the system, legal provisions were necessary, which I was unable to obtain. After the minister's announcement from the National Assembly podium about shutting down the Commission with a new law, working became meaningless. I can no longer realize my ideas. Plagiarists are waiting for the closure of the structure.
2. In an interview back in August 2019, I stated that if R. Hayrapetyan did not submit his resignation, I would leave. My words were not specifically about Ruben, but rather about a phenomenon. The current acting rector, appointed after him, has blatant translations and plagiarisms in his doctoral work, yet he still holds his position through connections and patronage. His tenure is a matter of value choice between him and me.
3. Three months after my appointment, my wife and I agreed that if she said I had become arrogant or haughty, I would submit my resignation the same day. She hasn’t said that yet, but in her opinion, I have started to express less joy. Indeed, this job has begun to bring me no pleasure as I clearly realize that my work efficiency has sharply declined.
PS: I want to thank the Prime Minister of Armenia for assigning me such a responsible position during this challenging time,” he wrote.
