A Petition Calling for Recognition of the Armenian Genocide Published on the Website of the President of Ukraine

A petition has been published on the website of the President of Ukraine calling for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide which occurred in the Ottoman Empire. "Dear Volodymyr Oleksandrovych, I appeal to you to support the Armenian people in their century-long struggle for truth and historical justice," writes the author of the petition, the head of the 'Mons Pius' public organization, as reported by Armenpress, citing AnalitikaUA.net.

"Persecution, oppression, and mass killings against nations on racial, religious, or any other grounds are crimes against humanity and have no statute of limitations. Such actions must be duly evaluated by the entire civilized world to prevent such tragedies in the future. This issue transcends all political interests; it concerns the values upon which the next generations will be raised, determining their security, prosperity, and the opportunity for billions of people to feel free. I am convinced that such orientations resonate with the entire Ukrainian people and you personally. That is why I urge you to provide the necessary state support to recognize the mass extermination of Armenians in the Ottoman Empire from 1915 to 1922 as the genocide of the Armenian people and to declare April 24 as a day of remembrance for the victims of these tragic events," the petition states.

According to the publication, the executive director of the Union of Armenians of Ukraine, Hovakim Harutyunyan, wrote on his social media page that there comes a time when you want to ask everyone to unite. "Unite for justice, truth, and honor," he noted.
