Will Kocharyan Remain in Custody or Not? Decision to be Made: 'Zhoghovurd'

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports: 'Today at 17:50, the next court session regarding the question of constitutional order disruption will take place, and Judge Anna Danibekyan is expected to make a decision regarding the release of Robert Kocharyan. Will she reject or approve the request from three former Prime Ministers of Armenia and one Prime Minister of Artsakh?

In other words, will Kocharyan be released or will he continue to remain in custody? It is worth noting that former Prime Ministers Khosrov Harutyunyan, Vazgen Manukyan, and Karen Karapetyan, as well as Artsakh Prime Minister Anushavan Danielyan, had requested the court to release Kocharyan on personal guarantees, promising that he would not go anywhere and would appear promptly in court.

Considering various facts, one could assume that Danibekyan will let Kocharyan go, as requests were also submitted by former and current Presidents of Artsakh, Arkadi Ghukasyan and Bako Sahakyan. Additionally, Kocharyan was released on May 18 last year. However, despite this precedent, a number of events have occurred in the meantime that could potentially prompt the judge to make a different decision due to human factors.

It is recalled that on September 27, around 20:15, a group of individuals pursued the judge, making offensive remarks. Nonetheless, following these events, Danibekyan's colleague Vazgen Rshtuni made a decision and released the accused Sarkis Ohanyan. Danibekyan deemed this disrespectful by her colleagues. Furthermore, during this time, a significant media campaign was organized against her, which she also found offensive. While it is undoubtedly difficult to predict what decision she will make, judging by the current situation, it is highly likely that Anna Danibekyan will keep Kocharyan in custody.'
