Man Who Threatened MP with Violence Arrested
Based on the report of MP Nikolay Baghdasaryan, it has been established through the materials prepared by the Yerevan division of the police of the Republic of Armenia that Arthur Aleksanyan, a member of the public initiative "Will to Protect Armenian Values," along with other members, conducted a demonstration against the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. During this event, he confronted MP Nikolay Baghdasaryan, demanding that he vote against the ratification of the convention.
After the conclusion of the National Assembly session, Arthur Aleksanyan chased down MP Nikolay Baghdasaryan on Baghramyan Avenue in Yerevan. Upon learning that Baghdasaryan had voted in favor of the ratification, he hurled sexual slurs at him and threatened to take revenge.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Arabkir division of the Yerevan police regarding the threat of violence against a government representative in connection with the performance of his official duties, in accordance with part 1 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Following the prosecutor's instructions, Arthur Aleksanyan has been arrested.
