If We Continue at This Pace and Cases of the Disease Increase, We Will Once Again Be Forced to Impose Restrictions, Says Prime Minister
Unfortunately, the coronavirus crisis seems to be falling out of public attention, and we are facing challenges. This was stated today, May 13, during a live broadcast on Facebook by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, noting that for several days now there have been over 100 cases of coronavirus infections.
"This means that anti-epidemic conditions are not being followed uniformly in our country, unfortunately. Considering the economic and social situation in the country, as well as the fact that the coronavirus will be present in our lives for a long time, we have decided to gradually reduce restrictions. But you remember that we declared that all of this will be effective if we shift to a decentralized strategy in the fight against coronavirus. This means that each of us must take responsibility for adhering to certain rules.
However, based on my observations, I can say that I see people greeting each other with a handshake in the streets, and I do not want to mention those who are conversing closely. This is a significant problem, and we can face a very serious crisis at this pace," said Pashinyan, adding that we still have to live with coronavirus for at least another year.
He called for maintaining social distance, wearing masks, and constantly sanitizing hands. "If we continue at this pace and cases of the disease increase at this rate, we will be forced to implement restrictions once again. The purpose of these restrictions will be to ensure that no citizen in need of medical assistance goes without it. The coronavirus pandemic is spreading rapidly; I urge and call for adherence to anti-epidemic rules," Pashinyan stated.
