How Many Deaths Were Recorded in January-March and From Which Diseases: 'Hayots Ashkhar'
“Hayots Ashkhar” writes: “In Armenia, most deaths officially occur from cardiovascular and oncological diseases. The leading cause on the ‘black list’ of diseases is the circulatory system diseases. Nearly half of the recorded mortality cases in our republic were due to circulatory system diseases, including acute myocardial infarctions and hypertensive diseases.
According to the newspaper, 4,106 people died in Armenia from circulatory system diseases in the first quarter of this year. Experts believe that the cause is the lack of accessible medical services for the majority of the population struggling to earn a living, as well as the early detection of diseases and appropriate medical assistance. Not to mention surgical interventions; just to place a stent in one coronary artery costs around 1 million drams. As a result, many people die at a young age from these diseases because they cannot afford the cost of heart stenting.
The next most common cause of death is neoplasms, predominantly malignant ones. In our republic, 1,372 people died from neoplasms in January-March of this year. According to specialists, a combination of stress, the environment, and diet contributes to the increase in these diseases.”
