You Went to War by the Dictation of Your Heart: Armen Sarkissian to Veterans
President Armen Sarkissian hosted a group of veterans today. Participants of the Artsakh war, Lernik Matevosyan, Hakob Agajanian, and Hrach Abrahamyan met with the President and had a brief conversation a few days ago at the Yerablur Pantheon on the anniversary of the liberation of Shushi, where President Sarkissian paid tribute to the memory of the heroes who dedicated their lives to the homeland.
The President offered them the opportunity to continue the conversation at his residence. During today’s meeting, the veterans presented their journey and addressed current issues. They also emphasized the importance of attention and care not only towards veterans of the struggle but also towards all war veterans in general.
President Sarkissian inquired about the health and social status of the veterans. He valued the contributions of all volunteers and soldiers who participated in the Artsakh liberation movement. Thanking the veterans, President Sarkissian specifically stated, “First of all, I thank you for your service from the heart, because you went to war by the dictation of your heart.”
The President noted that victory is the result of our collective efforts, and all veterans should be under the attention of not only the state but also of everyone. “The state should be proud of its soldier and veteran, and you should also be proud that you are citizens of this country,” President Sarkissian emphasized, highlighting that the attitude towards volunteers and soldiers should be special in all aspects, from material to moral support.
The veterans stressed that despite their challenges, they continue to consider themselves soldiers of the homeland and are ready to participate at any moment to defend its security if necessary.
