Former political prisoner threatened by the mayor's uncle
The newspaper 'Jolovourd' reports: Former political prisoner Gevorg Manukyan, in an interview with ArmLur.am regarding the March 1 case, recounted that a campaign of threats against him and his family has been launched by Garik Chilingaryan, the uncle of Ejmiadzin's mayor Diana Gasparyan, who is also a relative of Constitutional Court member Alvina Gulumyani.
“A few days ago, at 22:11 Paris time, I received another threatening message from the relative uncle of the acting mayor of Ejmiadzin, Diana Gasparyan. At first glance, this may seem like a typical long-distance fight, but the roots of this story trace back to the events of March 2008; there is no other explanation. I believe that the intensive attacks directed at me by the relatives of Ejmiadzin's mayor Diana Gasparyan are solely intended to prevent me from ever demanding an investigation into the events of March 1, 2008. I responsibly declare that Ejmiadzin's mayor, Diana Gasparyan, is one of those covering up the March 1 case; I have relevant evidence and will present more details about her involvement in due course,” he stated.
According to our interlocutor, on February 26 of this year, Garik Chilingaryan used language on the Facebook page of one of Gevorg Manukyan's acquaintances that was recently directed at Alen Simonian by Arthur Danielyan, a member of the Adequate Movement: “But since I could not physically break his nose for that statement, I decided to respond in kind on Ms. Gasparyan's Facebook page, meaning to insult, not to threaten, which are different things. Prior to this, I reached out to Ms. Gasparyan and another relative of her uncle, whom I previously respected, and asked that Ms. Gasparyan and her uncle publicly apologize to me and my relatives for such remarks, but received a negative response. Thus, I had no choice but to give an appropriate response. Subsequently, Ms. Gasparyan's uncle, Garik Chilingaryan, threatened me with personal messages, once, yesterday at 13:44 Paris time, and again at 22:11.”
“By the way, this is not the first instance of threats directed at me by the relatives of Diana Gasparyan. I believe it will continue as long as they are not held accountable for their actions and as long as I demand an investigation into the events of March 1, 2008. By the way, I have strong reasons to suspect that Diana Gasparyan and Alvina Gulumyani actively participated in covering up the fabricated criminal case of March 1, 2008; to put it in sports terminology, they played as a pass to each other, with Alvina Gulumyani at the European Court and Diana Gasparyan in Armenia. I have come across a video where Diana Gasparyan gives an interview in which she mentions that she previously worked in an institution that responded to official inquiries from the European Court, and so on,” our interlocutor added.
ArmLur.am also sought a comment from Ejmiadzin's mayor Diana Gasparyan regarding Gevorg Manukyan's statements: “I ask Gevorg Manukyan to be honest and publish the filthy, vile insults he has directed at my family members and to honestly say that those posts are responses to those complaints; it is not honest to provoke by only publishing responses. If Gevorg Manukyan believes there is any issue with the law, let him turn to the law enforcement agencies.”
It should be noted that Gevorg Manukyan is a former political prisoner living in Strasbourg. During the notorious events of March 1, Gevorg lost the vision in his right eye.
