Former MP Yervan Abgaryan Passes Away

Yervan Abgaryan, a former member of the Supreme Council and National Assembly of Armenia, has passed away at the age of 80 on May 7, following a prolonged illness. This was confirmed by Arman Musinyan, spokesperson for the Armenian National Congress, in a conversation with Armenpress.

“Yervan Abgaryan passed away last night after a long illness. His memorial service will be held on May 8 at 18:00,” Musinyan noted.

Born in 1940 in the village of Arghel, Kotayk Province of Armenia, Abgaryan studied at Yerevan State University’s Department of Oriental Studies from 1964 to 1968. He served as a member of the Supreme Council from 1990 to 1995 and was a member of the Armenian National Movement party. He held the position of head of the Armenian Customs Service from 1992 to 1997 and was a member of the National Assembly from 1996 to 1999, also representing the Armenian National Movement.
