Who Received Support Among Those Affected by the Events of March 1
"Zhoghovurd" newspaper reports that not all individuals affected during the events of March 1-2, 2008, in Yerevan have applied for a one-time aid payment. As is known, on July 18, 2019, the government approved a procedure for providing compensation to those affected by the events of March 1, 2008, and their legal successors.
According to this, the legal successors of deceased individuals will receive 30 million drams, those who suffered serious health damage will receive 15 million drams, and those with moderate health damage will receive a compensation of 5 million drams. It turns out that not all eligible recipients have applied for compensation.
"Zhoghovurd" newspaper learned that, within the framework of the program, one-time monetary support has been provided to the relatives of 10 deceased individuals, 8 individuals who suffered severe damage to their health, and 31 individuals who sustained moderate health damage. In total, 575 million drams have been spent to support these individuals.
As we mentioned, the program has not been fully implemented. Despite the project author, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Lena Nazaryan, indicating that the number of persons affected during the events of March 1-2 is unclear, she simultaneously presented the response from the Special Investigative Service, stating that 63 civilians suffered serious and moderate injuries, 32 of whom were police officers.
