Around 70,000 People Returned to Armenia Since Early March, 23,000 Since State of Emergency Declaration: Prime Minister

“I have the honor to report that the Government of Armenia has succeeded, including with the help of the National Assembly, in keeping the coronavirus socio-economic crisis within manageable limits. This does not mean that all citizens of Armenia continue to live in the same way as in January or February; it means that, fortunately, we do not have social collapse and crisis, but it is much more important to talk about the future,” said the Prime Minister in Parliament.

Pashtinyan stated that we will have the coronavirus crisis until May of next year. He presented another important and unique indicator: since the beginning of March, around 70,000 people have returned to Armenia, and since the declaration of the state of emergency, 23,000 citizens have returned.

According to the Prime Minister, the difference in the number of returnees in the first quarter of 2019 compared to those who left was approximately twenty thousand. From Pashtinyan's assessment, this is good in terms of implementing their repatriation policy; on the other hand, a legitimate question arises—what will happen to those people who do not have the opportunity to work abroad this year, what will they engage in?
