Women Dismissed from Work in Istanbul Due to Hijab Wearing

Three female employees from a supermarket in the Etiler district of Istanbul have reported being dismissed from their jobs due to wearing hijabs. The employees, Didem Nur Batal, Sermin Topuz, and Perihan Basak Soyuzbir, have filed a complaint with the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the director of the employment service company 'ADECCO' and the manager of this particular branch of the well-known Migros supermarket chain in Turkey, reports ermenihaber.am.

It is noted that these women were hired by 'ADECCO' on April 28. However, the following day, when they went to work, the supermarket manager stated, 'I was surprised when I saw you because our supermarket does not employ women who wear hijabs.'

In response to the incident, the officials of this branch have stated that they have many employees who wear hijabs in their stores and that they do not impose any restrictions on them, nor do they make any distinctions among employees.
