The Number of Coronavirus Patients May Slightly Increase, But There is Nothing Terrible: Hovik Aghazaryan
Before each regular session of the National Assembly, the faction holds a meeting to clarify the overall position regarding the agenda items being discussed. Hovik Aghazaryan, a member of the "My Step" faction, stated this in an interview with Tert.am while responding to the question of what issues were discussed in today's meeting of the faction.
Aghazaryan did not specify which specific agenda items were being referred to. Regarding whether there has been any discussion about the incident involving a brawl with the participation of the deputy speaker and an armed incident in Garavand, Aghazaryan noted, "No other issues were discussed in my presence; I have already stated what we discussed," he emphasized.
The parliamentarian also referred to the decision of the commandant's office, which will lift most restrictions from May 4 and will allow citizens to move freely. According to Aghazaryan, it is now necessary to gradually return to normal life as much as the current situation allows. He mentioned that the government has taken steps to mitigate the socio-economic consequences of the coronavirus for citizens, but it is essential to activate the economy. He noted that measures have been taken and are being taken by the healthcare system to reduce the spread of the infection, and risks are being assessed.
Addressing the observation that the number of hospitalizations may increase further with the easing of restrictions, Aghazaryan said, "It may increase slightly, but that is not terrible; young people are handling this virus very calmly, and many young people have probably already passed through it, so we should try to return to the rhythm of normal life," he stated.
Aghazaryan also pointed out that there is nothing alarming about the numbers of coronavirus infection cases; it is simply statistics. "It's just 1-2 cases that are severe, and they receive the appropriate medical care. You have already noticed that nearly 1000 people have recovered, and there will come a time when the number of recoveries will exceed the daily number of infected cases," he emphasized.
