Nearly 10,000 New COVID-19 Cases Reported in Russia in One Day, 57 Deaths
Russia reported 9,623 new cases of coronavirus infection yesterday, marking a record increase in cases since the beginning of the pandemic, according to a statement from the operational headquarters for combating coronavirus, as reported by RIA Novosti.
During the last day, 57 people died from the virus in the country, while 1,723 recovered.
Since the onset of the pandemic, a total of 124,054 people in the country have been infected with coronavirus, with 1,222 fatalities and 15,013 recoveries. It is known that nearly 47 percent of the new infections show no symptoms.
The highest number of cases were recorded in the capital, Moscow, with 5,358 cases, followed by the Moscow region with 807 cases, and St. Petersburg with 323 cases.
According to the World Health Organization, more than 3,413,169 million people have been infected with coronavirus worldwide, and there have been 239,711 reported deaths.
The United States ranks first in the number of infections and deaths, followed by Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Turkey, and Iran.
