5000 People Have Applied to the Embassy to Return from Russia to Armenia
The Armenian Embassy in Russia has currently received applications from 5000 individuals, the majority of which were submitted after April 18. Since March 22, the total number of applications has exceeded 8500. This was stated to Armenpress by Anna Naghdalyan, the spokesperson for the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.
"Since March 20, we have provided accommodation for 1200 citizens of the Republic of Armenia in hotels. As of today, 350 citizens are accommodated in hotels, guest houses, and temporary shelters provided by the embassy, receiving food and essential supplies. Hundreds of citizens have also been accommodated and fed in Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, and other cities in Russia. I would like to emphasize that efforts have been made to find employment for about 517 citizens. 117 citizens found jobs in March, and another 400 citizens, including women, have been employed in various regions of Russia in April. Approximately 150 citizens have declined job offers," she said.
According to Naghdalyan, the Armenian Embassy in Russia maintains constant contact with around two dozen citizens and medical personnel in health care facilities and provides necessary supplies as needed. "Support is also provided to 8 Armenian citizens being treated for coronavirus in home isolation. Food baskets are regularly provided to 45 families who are self-isolating at home and have found themselves in a difficult financial situation," she noted.
As a result of 7 charter flights organized in April, about 1500 citizens have returned from Russia to Armenia, with more than 1300 of them returning free of charge. Numerous efforts have been undertaken in collaboration with benefactors and community organizations.
