Restrictions to Be Lifted Starting May 4, Deputy Minister Clarifies

A new package of changes will come into effect starting May 4. This was announced today during a press conference by Varos Simonian, the Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia.

According to him, the restriction on free movement will be lifted, meaning that citizens of Armenia will have the right to move freely within the country. “Shopping malls and large retail stores will remain closed, but food stores, grocery stores, and agricultural product markets will operate. The processing industry, textile production, furniture manufacturing, and more will be reopened. As for public catering, only those cafes and restaurants that have outdoor areas will be permitted to operate. Indoor service will not be allowed,” stated the deputy minister, noting that transport restrictions will also remain in place.
