Labor Rights Violations in Armenia Are Most Widespread, Says Lena Nazaryan

Today, especially under the conditions of the pandemic, labor rights violations in Armenia are at their most widespread. This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Lena Nazaryan, on her Facebook page.

She specifically noted, “Those in need of social assistance have already been forced to speak openly that employers have not registered their work and have not paid taxes, which could now be returned to these workers through social programs.

It became known that some employers even required their employees to give them a portion of their social assistance. It was also mentioned that in order to keep people dependent, temporary contracts are signed with those who have worked in the same place for years, and when the time is right, they are refused to continue it.

To make all this systematically heard by the state apparatus, yesterday I proposed to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, Zaruhi Batoyan, the possibility of creating a system for quickly, affordably, and perhaps anonymously notifying state bodies about labor rights violations. After some research, there will be specific steps in this direction.”
