Which Subject Will Candidates Take an Exam for Their Chosen Specialty? Clarification by the Minister

We have selected subjects that will allow participation in competitions for more than one specialty because by taking one exam, the opportunity should be created to apply for different specialties. This was stated today during a Facebook live broadcast by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan.

“The list is very extensive, as there are large universities and hundreds of specialties, but today they will definitely be posted on our website, where it will be specifically indicated which exam you will take for which specialties. Mainly in language universities and departments, languages are determined according to your specialties, while in several other universities, for example, at the University of Economics, it is mathematics,” noted the minister.

Harutyunyan presented some of them: “At Yerevan State University, the primary entrance examination for Arts Theory and History is written Armenian Language and Literature, the same applies to Religious Studies and Theology. In the Faculty of History, the examination is History, for Archaeology and Ethnology it is also History, Philosophy requires Armenian Language and Literature. In the Faculty of Oriental Studies, for specialties like Arabic Studies, Turkic Studies, and Iranian Studies, it is Armenian History; the same goes for Caucasian Studies and Law. In English and Armenian Translation, it is written English. At the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, for Informatics and Applied Mathematics, the exam is written Mathematics; for Computer Graphics Design, it is drawing or composition, and for Environmental Protection, it can be written Mathematics or Physics.

At the Gyumri branch of the National Polytechnic University of Armenia, for Information Technologies, it is written Mathematics; for Industrial and Civil Engineering, it can be written Mathematics or Physics. At the Armenian National Agrarian University, for Agroeconomics and Economic of Food Industry, it is written Mathematics; for Agroecology, it is written Mathematics or Biology; and for Brewing Technology and Winemaking, it is also written Mathematics.”

According to the minister, candidates can also apply under the “I am honored” program and take one subject: “There will be admission, at the Assessment and Testing Center, you will take one subject according to your specialty, after which the Ministry of Defense will conduct its own test, after which you will work with the Ministry of Defense.”
