Sectors Included in Anti-Crisis Measure Expanded by Government Decision

The government decided in its meeting today to expand the sectors included in the 8th anti-crisis measure to mitigate the economic impacts of the coronavirus.

Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan noted that from now on, the following sectors' employees will also be beneficiaries of this measure:

• Clothing production
• Production of shoes and other leather products
• Furniture production
• Production of jewelry from precious and non-precious metals and stones
• Technical maintenance and repair of vehicles
• Aviation transportation activities
• Operation of cinemas
• Activities in the field of photography
• Rental of vehicles and other objects
• Educational activities in the fields of culture, music, sports, dance
• Activities in the organization of creative, artistic, and presentation events
• Provision of laundry, cleaning, and dry cleaning services
• Printing services (publishing activities)

It should be noted that individuals who have been employed or self-employed in the specified sectors between March 13 and March 30, 2020, can apply for one-time monetary support.

The support is provided as a one-time payment. If the average salary of an employee in January and February exceeds 68,000 AMD, the support amount will be 50% of the average salary, but no less than 68,000 AMD and no more than 136,000 AMD. If the average salary is below 68,000 AMD, the support will equal the average salary.

The support provided to individual entrepreneurs will amount to 10% of the turnover from the 4th quarter of 2019, but no more than 136,000 AMD.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that this decision expands the number of beneficiaries by approximately 36 thousand. “So far, 54.9 billion AMD has been distributed through anti-crisis measures, the number of businesses among the beneficiaries is 22 thousand, and the number of individuals is 775 thousand,” he added.
