Samsonyan: Demand My Removal from Government Office if I Act Like Current Officials
Ani Samsonyan, a member of the ‘Bright Armenia’ faction in the National Assembly, made a post on her Facebook page regarding the incident that occurred in the National Assembly.
“Dear friends and colleagues, I am grateful for your condemnatory remarks regarding the incident that took place in the National Assembly yesterday. I do not perceive this merely as support for my person but, first and foremost, as a will to change our culture. This is important to me. And I am confident that whoever finds themselves at the center of such an incident, regardless of their political or ideological background, you and I will defend them.
The main message of the letters I received was: do not be discouraged and do not get upset. You feel disappointment when you have high expectations. I am not upset because any long journey is a hardship.
I am forgiving, but I believe that any value-based phenomenon that is consciously tarnished from the parliamentary podium should be restored right from that podium, even without personal identification.
And my request to all of you: on the day I am a representative of the power and I act like those currently in power (I might not even notice this myself), demand my removal from government offices, because I will be a toxic element for the political, mental, and moral health of the state and society.
Best wishes to you all. Do not get upset,” wrote Ani Samsonyan.
