Child Hospitalized With Burns After Major Fire, Family Left Homeless

A 1.4-year-old child has suffered burns as a result of a fire that broke out in an apartment in Building 17 of the 6th district of Charentsavan. The child is currently in the intensive care unit of the National Center for Burn Care.

NEWS.am spoke with the mother of the child, Tsovinar Safaryan, who has no place to live and is currently outdoors with her five minor children.

"We were sleeping with my children; one of my twins was sleeping next to me in the bedroom, and the other was in the living room with my daughters. Suddenly my daughter came running, yelling, 'Mom, the house is on fire.' I ran to the living room, and there was a loud bang as a huge fire broke out from the electrical wires. I told my daughter to grab the kids and run outside. One of my twins was still in the living room; the fire was so strong that I couldn't see. I don't know what strength propelled me inside; I ran to the living room and saw my child stuck there. I quickly grabbed them and ran outside. The doctors say he has 10% burns and have connected him to a system; he is currently in intensive care," the mother recounted.

Tsovinar further shared that it is extremely difficult for her to earn money, as it is hard to work with minor children. "Now we will be staying outside. I don’t have a house; I stay with my mother in a rented one-room apartment. I have taken my children there, and I am in the hospital. I have no documents or clothes. I have managed to pay my rent with great difficulty, and this time the landlord was going to kick us out because I couldn’t pay the rent."
