Armenian Specialists Create Generators to Purify Air from Coronavirus

Armenia continues to make efforts to combat coronavirus using its own resources. This time, specialists from the Alikhanyan National Scientific Laboratory have developed 20 ozone generators designed for disinfecting enclosed spaces and medical equipment. The Armenian Ministry of Health has already acquired these devices.

In an interview with Armenpress, laboratory director Ani Abrahamyan shared details about the project: “Ozone generators are widespread globally and have diverse applications. It was crucial for us to devise something that would eliminate the virus. Our ozone generators can disinfect 140 cubic meters in one hour,” she stated, adding that a timer has been installed for a duration of two hours.

When using the device, no person should be present in the room as ozone is harmful for respiration. Initially, the specialists created a prototype which they presented to the Ministry of Health. A group from the ministry assessed the device, gave their approval, and expressed a desire to acquire 20 units.

Ozone generators are also produced in China but have not been available in Armenia. According to Abrahamyan, the cost in China can range from $100 to $1000 each. “What we’ve created is of average quality compared to the Chinese version. The material cost for each was about 42,000 drams, and we did the work free of charge,” she said, mentioning that, if necessary, they could sell the devices for around 60,000 to 80,000 drams.

Alina Nikoghosyan, the spokesperson for the Minister of Health, stated that the 20 ozone generators purchased by the ministry will be installed in hospitals, with specific locations to be determined based on need. For further details, please refer to the original source.
