Director of Multi Group Company Sedrak Arustamyan Arrested
The director of the Multi Group company, Sedrak Arustamyan, has been arrested. The court has approved the investigator's request. This was reported by his lawyer, Hovik Sukiasyan, in an interview with ArmLur.am.
Arustamyan was arrested on April 23, after which his lawyer filed an appeal against the decision. “The court approved our appeal and recognized the arrest as unlawful; at the same time, it granted the investigator's request to detain him for two months. Although our appeal was approved, there was a clause that should not have allowed the investigator's motion to be granted, but it was granted. All of this falls into the realm of contradictions. There is absolutely no legal basis for any of this,” the lawyer stated, adding that they will continue their struggle.
It should be reminded that Sedrak Arustamyan is also involved in two other criminal cases. Specifically, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reported on April 8 that charges were filed against the general director of Multi Group Concern for failing to comply with legal requirements during the construction of a hotel complex on Abovyan Street. He was charged under Article 315.1 of the RA Criminal Code (not ceasing unlawful appropriation of land that belongs to the state or community and not eliminating its consequences, as well as not stopping the construction of unlawful structures and not demolishing them). A restrictive measure has been applied to him, requiring him to sign not to leave the country.
It is also noted that Sedrak Arustamyan is the father of Prosperous Armenia Party MP Nora Arustamyan.
