Sotk Mine Employee Infected with Coronavirus from Neighbor; 100 Employees Isolated
An employee at the Sotk mine has been infected with coronavirus. Ten employees have been tested, and 100 have been isolated. This was stated by Rouzanna Grigoryan, the head of external relations and social responsibility at GeoProMining Gold, in a conversation with NEWS.am.
She noted that the infected mine worker is from Vardenis and caught the virus from a neighbor. After feeling unwell, he did not go to work for several days and later informed that he had tested positive for the coronavirus.
“We have implemented anti-crisis measures and conducted monitoring to identify how many employees worked closely with him in recent days, and we have isolated them. The ten people who had close contact have been tested, with results for four of them already returned negative. We are awaiting results for the remaining six. We have established a risk group ourselves and have isolated 100 employees. We have urged our employees to refrain from coming to work if they feel unwell, have a fever, etc. The health of our employees is very important to us. We are adhering to all sanitary and hygienic measures; there are currently no issues in the mine. Employees who are absent due to isolation or other virus-related issues may be absent from work while still receiving their salaries,” said Grigoryan.
