My Mother is One of the 688 Employees in Armenia's Orphanages Whose Salary Will Increase
“My mother is one of the 688 employees in Armenia's orphanages whose salary will increase starting May 1 of this year, according to a decision adopted by the government today. According to this decision, the salaries of orphanage employees will rise by an average of 21 percent (30 percent for general type orphanages and 17 percent for special type ones).” This was stated by Lena Nazaryan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, on her Facebook page.
“Moreover, since January, the salaries of employees in care homes have also increased by an average of 26 percent (42 percent for general type care home employees and 20 percent for special type ones). This is solely the result of the effective management of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia. In other words, new taxpayer funds have not been invested in the sector, but rather aimless and shadow outflows have been stopped. It is true that the growth of the welfare of state sector employees and, overall, our citizens is a commitment of our political team, and Minister Zaruhi Batoyan and Deputy Minister Gemafin Gasparyan are embodying that commitment while working in this direction. However, I am not hesitant to appreciate and express my gratitude for the reforms they have initiated and will continue to implement. I personally know how anticipated such reforms are in our country.
My mother has been working at one of Yerevan's orphanages for 20 years, and her salary had never increased during these years. It even decreased during the term of one of the previous governments.”
