Former Head of Garni Community Arrested on Suspicion of Abuse of Official Powers

The Investigative Department of Kotayk Region of the RA Investigative Committee has obtained factual data during the preparation of materials based on the results of a joint study conducted by the Territorial Development and Environmental Issues Department of the Prime Minister's Office and the RA Cadastre Committee, as well as the information and attached documents prepared by the State Oversight Service.

According to the findings, the former head of the Garni community in Kotayk Region, acting out of self-interest and personal gain, used his official position in contradiction to the interests of the service. On March 31, 2006, as the community head, he signed a lease agreement for real estate with his wife, under which she leased a 0.14-hectare plot of agricultural land located within the administrative territory of Garni community for 25 years at an annual rent of 3,000 AMD.

Shortly thereafter, on April 18, 2006, under a sub-lease agreement signed for 10 years, his wife sub-leased a 0.02-hectare area from the aforementioned plot for a monthly rent of 40,000 AMD to a company.

Subsequently, on May 24, 2010, she further sub-leased a 0.0139-hectare area from her rented land for a monthly rent of 70,000 AMD to another company. Reception antennas were installed in the designated
