Margarita Grigoryan Submits Resignation Letter

Margarita Grigoryan has officially announced her resignation via a statement posted on the Facebook page of the Public Television Company.

Official Statement by Margarita Grigoryan, Executive Director of Public Television

Dear compatriots, colleagues, and viewers,

I find it unacceptable the release of video footage recorded before the broadcast by the Prime Minister of Armenia, and I am sincerely outraged by this cheap betrayal of partner and ethical principles. For years, I have been subjected to similar media assaults and understand what it means to be hit from behind. I regret the occurrence.

At this crucial moment for the country, such media vandalism is inexcusable in the context of the development phase of Public Television. I have personally been responsible for numerous public events, celebrations, and emergency broadcasts during this period, sharing expressions of gratitude and praise with my staff. Now I share the responsibility for what has happened by submitting my resignation.

During my leadership, there have been unprecedented changes in Public Television: multiple increases in the broadcast of original productions, continuous improvement of ratings—especially in the last two years, the establishment of a modern digital archive, capital renovations and improvements of facilities, and the promotion of public, educational, and cultural programs, including the production of hundreds of television films and dozens of unique TV series based on literary works.

We have received numerous positive responses from state and public institutions, as well as from public and political figures regarding these initiatives. The main outcome of my work is my colleagues—both inside and outside Public Television. The employees of Public TV have proven during these days that their professional qualities, regardless of technical shortcomings, are paramount. I thank all the staff of Public TV and my colleagues for their dedication to the broadcast.

I know that there are people here who will continue to implement the projects and goals without interruption. Over these seven years, we have implemented various programs together, and I am confident that I will continue to follow how my colleagues uphold the best traditions of Armenian television and create new ones.

I express my gratitude to all media outlets operating in Armenia, NGOs, state and international organizations for our collaborative work, as well as for the constructive criticism of Public TV’s work. During these days, I have become convinced that the opinions and views of television professionals align with my personal opinion.

I thank my immediate superiors for their support and advice during difficult days. Throughout my entire professional career, I have emphasized stability, the right to have and express one’s own opinion, and I have preferred to speak less and work more. These principles will accompany me moving forward in implementing new projects in a new job.

Wishing health to us all, see you soon.
