“If this pace continues, we will have 2,500 cases on May 4, and 5,000 on May 21,” Arsen Torosyan
Arsen Torosyan, the Minister of Health, stated on his Facebook page:
“The current doubling rate of coronavirus cases is 17 days. If this pace continues, then we will have 2,500 cases by May 4, and 5,000 cases by May 21. Our challenge remains the same: to break the transmission rate and the chains of disease spread. For this, it is necessary to eliminate human-to-human transmission of the disease by maintaining social distance everywhere, changing close contact behaviors to remote interactions, frequently washing and disinfecting hands, and avoiding touching the face as much as possible.”
“I would also like to specifically note that the expansion of our testing capacities to 1,000 tests per day has been a very complex and multi-component process, and never before have so many PCR tests been conducted daily in our country. This complex process includes 5 main components: specialists, equipment, biosafety, logistics, and electronic systems, each of which requires significant effort to be properly ensured by our experts. Such capacities will always be necessary for our country to cope with similar future challenges.”
