Citizens Should Feel a Sense of Security When Seeing Police. This is My Mission - Prime Minister
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Police Day.
In the message, he stated: "Dear officers of the Police of the Republic of Armenia,
I congratulate all of you on your professional day—on the occasion of Police Day of the Republic of Armenia. The police is a crucial institution for maintaining and protecting the rule of law in the country, and the quality of the work of each of you in the police system directly affects the civic self-awareness of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia.
Each of you interacts daily with dozens, even hundreds, of people, and my vision and mission I present to the Police of the Republic of Armenia are as follows: every citizen should feel a sense of security when seeing police; the mere presence of a police officer should elevate the level of trust among citizens and inspire confidence in them.
This type of relationship will significantly enhance the level of public order enforcement in our country and increase the effectiveness of our efforts aimed at combating crime and preventing offenses.
The public and citizens must have absolute confidence in the police, and reaching this situation is possible through systematic reforms in the police, where each police officer sets as a daily goal to enhance their level of knowledge, skills, and awareness. When the government takes measures to provide the police and each of its employees with the necessary technical and material resources, decent salaries, and an effective system of social guarantees, we can achieve this.
Legislative regulations are also crucial, where the powers and responsibilities of the police are clearly defined, and where clear red lines are set that the police cannot cross. The protection of the rule of law and the struggle against crime cannot occur at the expense of human and citizen rights.
The police should be free of corruption, and foremost, the police must fight to uproot corruption from within its own ranks. This is the agenda we must implement together in the coming years.
The police stand on the threshold of comprehensive reforms, which will result in an even more efficient police force aligned with modern demands.
Dear police officers,
Taking this opportunity, I also want to express words of appreciation for your work during the coronavirus pandemic. Here too, you are on the front lines of the fight.
Once again, I sincerely congratulate all of you and your family members, who feel the complexities of a police officer's work in their lives.
