Armenian Scientists Develop Bioxil-2 Disinfectant

At the A.B. Nalbandyan Institute of Chemical Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, a new generation composite disinfectant named Bioxil-2 has been developed. This effective, chlorine-free, active-oxygen-based disinfectant meets environmental standards and is affordable. The development was led by Academician L.A. Tavadyan.

According to the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the technological implementation has entered the initial phase, with a production capacity of 1 ton per day already established at the institute's pilot production facility.

The disinfectant has undergone relevant testing for its bactericidal properties at the Disinfection Center of the Ministry of Health and at the National Center for Tuberculosis Control, as well as in various food production enterprises. All tests confirmed the high efficiency of the disinfectant, and the technical specifications have been approved by the National Institute of Standards of Armenia.

In response to the current emergency situation in the country, the A.B. Nalbandyan Institute of Chemical Physics produced 1 ton of disinfectant using its own resources and provided it free of charge to the Ministry of Emergency Situations for targeted use. The institute is prepared to carry out large-scale production of the Bioxil-2 disinfectant as part of the fight against the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
