Kazakhstan Citizens No Longer Have to Pay Priority Fees for Temporary Registration of Vehicles Brought from Armenia

On April 16, a decision by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan regarding changes in the rules for vehicle registration in Kazakhstan will come into effect. This is reported by the kolesa.kz website.

According to the document, the state registration of vehicles temporarily brought into Kazakhstan will no longer be considered a priority. This means that citizens of Kazakhstan will no longer have to pay priority fees for the temporary registration of vehicles brought from EAEU countries, specifically from Armenia. This fee can reach up to 1.4 million tenge (approximately $3,300). The high cost of this fee has caused many Kazakhs to abandon the idea of legalizing their vehicles.

Owners of vehicles registered in Armenia can only wait for a decision (which may be made in May-June of this year) that will allow for the temporary registration of vehicles in Kazakhstan under relatively favorable conditions. The document is still in the preparation stage.
