The '10 Million Trees' Planting Initiative Has Been Postponed to the End of 2021
The Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Armenia reports that a decision has been made to postpone the deadline for achieving the target of the '10 Million Trees' environmental initiative to the end of 2021.
STATEMENT
Dear compatriots,
As you know, the unprecedented '10 Million Trees' environmental initiative has been launched in Armenia. We continue to work on the implementation of this important and large-scale initiative. On October 10, 2020, we aimed to plant 10,000,000 trees, thereby breathing new life into our country and land, ensuring a healthy and clean environment for future generations.
Considering the situation created by the spread of the new coronavirus, prioritizing everyone's health, and taking into account possible risks, we have decided to move the deadline for achieving the established target to the end of 2021.
We are hopeful that the current situation will be resolved, and we will still plant 1,000,000 saplings in Armenia throughout 2020, which is also unprecedented in recent years. In 2021, we will fully implement the initiative by planting another 10,000,000 saplings.
We hope to overcome the current challenges soon and resume the comprehensive efforts for the pan-Armenian tree planting initiative with renewed vigor. In the meantime, planning for the initiative will proceed as much as possible according to the previously developed sequence of steps.
Stay healthy,
said the ministry's statement.
