Materials Related to Violence in Sisian Police Department Sent to Special Investigative Service: Gor Abrahamyan
Materials related to possible acts of violence against a citizen at the Sisian Police Department have been sent to the Armenian Special Investigative Service (SIS) based on media reports and videos, confirmed Gor Abrahamyan, advisor to the Armenian Prosecutor General, on his Facebook page today, April 9.
He specifically noted: “The Office of the Prosecutor General has sent the publications from the media, as well as the videos presented in them, to the SIS for further investigation as per Articles 180-181 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia. This action is in response to reports received regarding possible acts of violence against a citizen at the Sisian Police Department, alongside the report from the citizen and accompanying documents.”
Furthermore, reports have also been received from several citizens regarding the use of violence by police officers during their detention and while being held at the Sisian police station. These instances have also been covered by several media outlets, and those reports have been forwarded to the SIS for the purpose of verifying and addressing the matters in question.
