Global Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 40,000, According to Worldometers
The number of deaths caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus has surpassed 40,000. According to real-time updated data from the Worldometers website, 40,633 people have died from the virus. The number of infected individuals has reached 823,200.
In total, 241,966 people have recovered, while there are currently 608,234 active cases. The highest number of fatalities has been recorded in Italy (12,428), followed by Spain (8,269), China (3,305), the United States (3,402), France (3,024), and Iran (2,898). The United Kingdom and the Netherlands each have over 1,000 deaths.
Large numbers of infected individuals are also present in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Austria, South Korea, Canada, and Portugal.
It is worth noting that the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic on March 11. The virus has spread to 178 countries. Chinese authorities informed the WHO about the outbreak on December 31.
