No State of Emergency Will Be Declared in New York, Says U.S. President
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he does not intend to implement a quarantine for New York State, as well as neighboring areas in New Jersey and Connecticut, stating that there is no need for it. He made the corresponding announcement on his Twitter page yesterday.
Instead, federal authorities have urged residents in these regions to strictly limit their movements, but there will be no official ban.
“At the suggestion of the White House experts’ team and after consulting with the governors of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut regarding the battle against the coronavirus, I asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to present recommendations that call for strictly limiting movement. There will be no need for quarantine,” Trump stated.
