Famous Composer Krzysztof Penderecki Dies in Poland
The brilliant academic composer Krzysztof Penderecki has passed away. His relatives announced the news of his death, reported Zvuki.ru.
Krzysztof Penderecki was born on November 23, 1933, in the Polish city of Dębice. After graduating from the State Higher School of Music in Krakow, he became a professor of polyphony and composition, later teaching these subjects in Germany and the USA, starting from his student years during an exchange program.
From 1966 to 1968, Penderecki taught at the Folkwang Hochschule für Musik in Essen, Germany.
Penderecki's first public performance on the international stage took place in 1959 during the Warsaw Autumn Festival.
He gained international recognition in the 1960s when his piece “Threnody for the Victims of Hiroshima” was performed.
