Armenian Students Studying in the U.S. Express Desire to Return to Homeland
The Armenian Embassy in the U.S. has announced that in recent days, 18 students have contacted the embassy, 12 of whom have expressed a desire to return to Armenia. ‘These individuals have been advised to immediately purchase tickets for flights from Los Angeles to Moscow to Yerevan or from New York to Moscow to Yerevan, as this is currently the only way to return to Armenia from the U.S.,’ the message states, as reported by armeniasputnik.am.
Since March 27, due to restrictions imposed by the Russian government, the return of foreign nationals through Aeroflot has been prohibited, which has hindered some of these students from returning to Armenia.
The Embassy has indicated that in the event of flight resumption, efforts will be made to provide any possible support for Armenian citizens wishing to return from the U.S.
Moreover, due to the spread of the new type of coronavirus, the Armenian Embassy has received requests for registration, consultation, and support from 38 Armenian citizens studying in the U.S. under various programs. The embassy has maintained constant communication with them.
With the assistance of the Embassy, it has been possible to organize the return of a group of 15 Armenian citizens studying at Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy and 3 students studying in Iowa to Armenia.
