Turkey Reports Over 1000 New Coronavirus Cases in One Day, Reaching 3629
The Turkish authorities have not ruled out the possibility of declaring a state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic, stated Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, as reported by ria.ru.
The Turkish Minister of Health, Fahrettin Koca, had earlier announced that the number of coronavirus cases in the country increased by over 1000 in one day, reaching 3629, while the number of fatalities has reached 75.
“As of today, all necessary measures have been taken. I cannot exclude the necessity of introducing a state of emergency,” Soylu said during an interview on NTV. He added that “life in Turkey has come to a standstill by 80%.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus on March 11 as a pandemic. According to the latest data from the WHO, more than 559,143 people worldwide have been infected, and over 25,278 have died.
