Cannes Film Festival Postponed for the First Time in History
The Cannes Film Festival has been postponed. This was reported by The Variety magazine. It was originally scheduled to take place from May 12-23, but preliminary data suggests it has now been moved to late June or early July.
Since its establishment in 1946, this is the first time that the Cannes Film Festival has been postponed. It has been canceled only once, in 1968, due to student protests in France.
The news of the festival's postponement follows an announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the closure of the country's borders. Media outlets believe that while the festival has been postponed for a considerable amount of time, there is no guarantee it will take place then, especially as France, Italy, and Spain have closed their borders, and the United States has prohibited travel to Europe for 30 days, complicating the participation of famous stars in one of the world's most prestigious film festivals.
