A Remote Education Platform Launched for Organizing Online Learning in Public Schools
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, considering the necessity of preventing the coronavirus and based on the current situation, has launched a remote education platform to organize online learning processes in public schools at heravar.armedu.am. This was reported by the Government.
The platform has been developed at the National Center for Educational Technologies and is already accessible. A working discussion aimed at addressing the effective organization of remote education was convened by Deputy Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, attended by officials responsible for the public education sector from the Ministry, as well as representatives from educational institutions and platforms with experience and capacity in organizing remote learning.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the need to plan the organization of the learning process by combining available alternatives and options. This year, the Ministry tested the possibility of implementing remote education in two schools, and now all schools will be involved in the process.
“We have a considerable number of Armenian-language online resources and tools for organizing remote education. There are schools with successful experience in the field of remote education, which we have asked to share their experience and also to consolidate the existing potential in the sector so that remote education is organized efficiently and is open and accessible to everyone,” noted Zh. Andreasyan.
According to the Deputy Minister, in the last two days, preparatory work has been carried out at the National Center for Educational Technologies, and a comprehensive remote education page has already been launched, which will systematically present a list of all schools in the republic based on subject teachers and students.
On the unified platform created by the National Center for Educational Technologies, all organizations with remote education platforms that are willing to collaborate with the ministry by providing their resources and expertise will also be presented.
It was noted that it is essential to adhere to the rules established by the Minister of Education and Science of Armenia's order dated December 17, 2018, N 1677-A/2, regarding “Ensuring the Online Safety of Children: A Guide for Children” and “Ensuring the Online Safety of Children: A Guide for Parents,” which can be reviewed at the following link: https://lib.armedu.am/resource/27385.
For technical support and other inquiries related to the use of the remote education platform, one can contact the rapid response group established at the National Center for Educational Technologies via the following phone numbers and email address: 010/011/578455, 010/011/578453, [email protected].
In the near future, all schools will be provided with the details of mentor-teachers who have undergone IT training. The mentors will conduct online training and provide technical support and guidance for teachers.
