Prosecutor's Office Receives Release Decision for Suspect in Assault on Mkrtich Mkhitaryan

The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia has received the court decision regarding the release on bail of Zaven Grigoryan, the brother of the assistant to former Vayots Dzor governor Tigran Sargsyan, who is charged in a brutal assault case against Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan in Vayots Dzor.

This information was provided to 24News by Aravik Khachatryan, the head of the public relations department of the Prosecutor General's Office. “The Prosecutor's Office has received the court's decision on Ara Mkhitaryan's case, but it is still being reviewed, and it is unclear whether it will be appealed,” Khachatryan noted.

It is noteworthy that on the night of September 18, 2019, in the city of Yeghegnadzor, Lieutenant Colonel Ara Mkhitaryan was assaulted, resulting in him being in a coma for approximately six months. A criminal case was initiated, charging Harutyun Grigoryan, the assistant to the former governor of Vayots Dzor, and his brother Zaven Grigoryan.
