Where is Mayor Marutyan Spending His Vacation?
According to the "Jhohvet" newspaper, the situation inside the Yerevan City Hall is not so calm, while the Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Marutyan, is currently on vacation. While the mayor's associates and those who nominated Marutyan for the position are, under the leadership of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, engaged in promoting the constitutional changes and the 'Yes' campaign, the mayor has decided to take a short vacation in the Czech Republic, visiting his father-in-law.
Interestingly, the fact that the mayor is on vacation remained unknown until the decision was made public to convene a council meeting, which was signed by Hrachya Sargsyan, who is currently fulfilling the duties of the mayor.
The "Jhohvet" newspaper tried to find out from the mayor's spokesperson, Hakob Karapetyan, what the reason for the mayor's vacation is. It turned out that Karapetyan is also on vacation but responded, 'The vacation is in accordance with the labor code of the Republic of Armenia.' However, he refused to disclose where Hayk Marutyan is spending his vacation.
According to the "Jhohvet" newspaper, the situation in the city hall is not peaceful, and they do not rule out that after the referendum on constitutional changes scheduled for April 5, Hayk Marutyan may leave his position. The 'My Step' faction in the Yerevan council does not participate in council meetings as a full team and many leave halfway, displaying their attitude.
